Jim DeMers, a Sandpoint icon, returned his 1927 heavy wooden javelin to Sandpoint High during halftime of a basketball game, handing it to ASB President Steve Klatt. He recalled early records and noted newer javelins are lighter and fly differently.
Jim Bond production Yukon Safari will be shown at the Panida Theatre Thursday night in two showings at 7 00 and 9 00. The feature is billed as a true odyssey of North America's last frontier.
The General Telephone Company of the Northwest Idaho office at Coeur d Alene was granted authority to raise service rates by the Public Utilities Commission. The company said the increase is needed to ensure fair earnings and to fund facilities for the 1969 Boy Scout Jamboree at Farragut Idaho.

The Diamond National mill near Athens Falls shut last Thursday due to a freak accident. A stationary carriage moved forward then reversed at high speed, breaking a large timber and causing extensive damage but no injuries.
