The Sandpoint Winter Carnival returns after a yearslong pause led by local youths and the Jaycee chapter with a parade at 6 15 p m through Cedar First Church ending at Farmin School grounds. Activities include ski races dog sleds T shirt contest cross country and a citizens slalom with beer specials and prizes.

Sandpoint police reports describe a Monday two vehicle crash at the Florence and Lake Streets intersection. No injuries occurred as Nancy M. Ford's southbound car pulled into the intersection, colliding with James E. Hunt’s eastbound vehicle, which then struck Ford from the rear.

Stolen Camera Gear Reported From Schweitzer Basin

About 4000 dollars of camera equipment vanished from Schweitzer Basin on Sunday. The loss involved a 16 millimeter Bolex camera, five Sweitar lenses, a light meter, sport pack, eight film rolls, and small tools. Fred Nelson of Know Products in Seattle owned the gear. It was last seen near the brown bag room in the Schweitzer Day Lodge. The Bonner County Sheriff's Office filed the report on Tuesday and distributed descriptions to regional agencies.

Mobile Homes Arrive For Flood Victims In Idaho

The FDAA reports five mobile homes reached Kellogg staging areas to aid flood victims in northern Idaho. An estimated 12 homes will be needed, eight for the St. Maries area, with sites required before use. Of 73 housing applicants, 51 families have been housed.

The Assistance Administration announced an extra 80 000 dollars for the Army Corps of Engineers to aid flood protection in Shoshone County Idaho. This in addition to 230 000 dollars already underway for debris clearing streams and bank protection as renewed river danger looms from heavy snowmelt along the Idaho Montana border.
