Northern Idaho faces possible floods as heavy snowpack threatens runoff in two months. Shoshone County officials urge channel and debris work, seeking Army Corps of Engineers help after FDAA authorization. A meeting in Seattle Friday could unlock further aid and action.
Duane Valez the Snow Valley Bible Church pastor urged Bonner County residents to oppose the press or join the posse in a hot two and a half hour gathering at a VFW Hall. About 100 members and sympathizers attended as Valez argued for the posse’s right to act and cited bearing sacrifice figures.
Bonner County Prosecutor Dan Featherston says a local posse is a legal citizens assembly not a law enforcement body. He warns private arrests carry civil liability and notes grand jury rules remain unchanged amid posse involvement.
Schweitzer Ski Basin collected roughly $300 on Thursday for the Bonner County Heart Fund drive. Funds came from half the lift ticket fees and various other sources.

Authorities charged him with treason, a possible death sentence, as letters praising the action appeared nationwide within 24 hours of the expulsion. Friends and supporters issued statements while exiles began arriving in West Germany.
A Sandpoint woman identified as Mrs. Denver Bloom about 50 escaped serious injury when her car overturned on State Highway 200 near Ponderay. Hospital officials said she was resting comfortably after suffering a head injury. unconfirmed reports suggested an oncoming vehicle in the wrong lane forced her off the road.
The Inland Automobile Association reports a worsening gas situation across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Of 20 stations surveyed, only five were open on Sundays, a small drop from last week. Stations expect tighter supplies as month end approaches and deliveries lag.
