Weather Alert Sandpoint Shows Snow Showers

Sandpoint reports mostly cloudy with showers mixed with snow today. Tonight and Friday remain partly cloudy with snow flurries. Winds are gusty and precipitation chances ease from 60 percent tonight to 40 percent Friday. Temperatures reach a high of 35 and a low around 20 both days.

Drug Tape Scheduled at Free Methodist Church

A Dave Wilkerson tape featuring 12 former youthful addicts will be shown during the Sunday School hour at the Free Methodist Church in Priest River this Sunday, Feb 7. The public is invited. The program covers personal drug scene experiences and paths to recovery by teens involved with Teen Challenge.

Sandpoint Traffic Commission opposes 35 mph limit

A seven member Sandpoint Traffic Safety Commission voted to oppose the state recommended 35 mph speed limit on North Fifth Street near M-1 Market. The group also discussed a traffic safety education program and higher police salaries, forwarding resolutions to the City Council for action.

The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and Sandpoint Junior Federated Woman's Club invite young women to a February 13 party at Community Hall to meet potential sponsors. Applicants must be 18 by January 1 1972 and under 28, single, a resident for six months, and may contact the pageant director after 3 p.m. for information.

Car Strikes School Post at Sandpoint High

A. Sandpoint Senior High student Carl Hanson 15 escaped injury when his car struck a support pole at the north end of the building near the bus barn. Investigating officer George Elliot Sandpoint Chief of Police noted no citations but said the accident remains under investigation.

Astronauts Take Moon Photos At 56000 Feet

Apollo 14 astronauts roved in 53 600 foot lunar orbit above Descartes to photograph the terrain while Stuart Roosa recorded 415 black and white frames. Ground teams reported a film magazine noise but proceeded with plans for another photo sequence after a rest period before the lunar landing.

Hunter's Story in Southampton Sees Dead Birds Truck Stop

Frederick Augustin, 29, stopped for routine check in Southampton. His truck revealed 236 dead ducks and 121 dead pheasants. He claimed the birds were to be donated to Suffolk County work farm at Yaphank for a $1,660 federal tax deduction.
