Guards Storm Prison In Walla Walla Hostage Rescue
Riot trained guards stormed the state prison hospital freeing eight hostages held by two convicts armed with half a pair of scissors. Five guards were later released after negotiations as injuries included two women stabbed in the arm and two technicians cut by glass.

County Rejects Vehicle Bill From Sandpoint Motors
Bonner County Commissioners rejected Sandpoint Motor Co. claim for a small pickup tied to the July death of June Hofmeister.
