Counties Receive Forest Service Funds in Montana Idaho South Dakota
Bonner County has nearly 700 000 from the Forest Service as revenue from national forests in the county part of 18 682 522 paid to 43 counties in MT north ID and western SD. The payments total 25 percent of fiscal year 1977 northern region revenue and rise 265 percent from 1976. Other north Idaho counties listed include Benewah Boundary Clearwater Idaho Kootenai Latah and Shoshone with various amounts. Doris Kenney says 70 percent of the payment goes to the county general road fund and 30 percent to the school district. The 87 876 figure reflects an increase from last year’s 300 000.

University of Idaho launches a 14000 grant funded study to survey skiers and state park visitors across Idaho. Project director A A Moslemi says results will guide planning for parks, ski areas, and nearby communities with about 10000 questionnaires distributed at 22 ski sites this winter.

Laclede Water District seeks intake permit in Idaho lake
The Laclede Water District with J A B Engineers seeks Army Corps permit to install two three inch intake lines and a submersible pump in Lake Pend Oreille near Laclede. The project would extend about 260 feet into the lake with a pump 15 feet below the lake’s minimum elevation. Public comments due by January 3 to the Corps Seattle office after state Board of Health certification.
