Dechant Urges Higher Government Milk Support Price

Tony Dechant president of the National Farmers Union urged President Ford to sign a bill raising the government support price for manufacturing milk. The measure would lift supports to about 7.69 dollars per hundred pounds immediately with quarterly increases through March 1976, offsetting current losses from high feed costs and potential dairy shortages. The administration opposed the bill and Agriculture Secretary Butz advised a veto.
