Planning Commission Approves Bovay Comprehensive Plan Payment

Bonner County Planning Commission, defying advisers, accepted the Bovay Engineers comprehensive plan and approved final payment of 11378. The panel opened the plan for public copies at 5 each and foresees growth, tourism and a potential future ski area impact into 1990 and beyond.

Weather alert for snow and gusty winds

Mostly cloudy with snow beginning this afternoon and continuing through Tuesday. Gusty winds tonight. Snow chance 70 percent through Tuesday. Highs around 35, lows near 30.

VFW Winners Highlight Voice of Democracy Contest

VFW Post 2453 Auxiliary and Junior Girls hosted a 6:30 potluck at the Post Home with about 100 attendees. Idaho guests attended, Santa visited for fifty youngsters, and Anna Vee Peterson won first place, with her taped talk advancing to district and state contests toward a Washington trip.

McClure Announces REA Loan for Inland Power Project

Rep. James McClure says Inland Power & Light of Spokane will receive a 1.659 million dollar Rural Electrification Administration loan to build 102 miles of distribution line serving 1 047 new customers in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington plus 15 miles of tie line and three new substations. Idaho will get 27000 for Bonner and Kootenai counties with 175 419 previously allocated by REA.

Needy List Grows for Bonner County Helpers

Mrs. Wayne Hook urges youth groups churches and individuals to assist Bonner County families in need. Food orders of 5 to 20 are requested for six un sponsored families with more to come before Christmas. Toys clothing bedding and food boxes are provided. Lions Toys for Tots aids foster children. Department of Public Assistance seeks help for children in legal custody.

Christmas Tree Lights Stolen From Office Display

Dr. J. P. Munson reported to city police that four strings of Christmas tree lights and a 100 foot black industrial extension cord were taken from the yuletide tree in front of his office sometime Saturday night. The tree was found stripped of ornaments.

Sandpoint Wrestlers Take Third in Lewiston Tournament

Sandpoint wrestlers placed third among eight schools in a Lewiston tournament Saturday. Participants included Coeur d'Alene Kellogg Wallace Moscow Lewiston Kamiah and Grangeville. Rick Larson and Mike Larson won first. Mike Hook Kent Lyons Floyd Howard were second. Bruce Lindgren Rod Moline third. Matt Turnbull fourth. Sandpoint will host a four-school meet December 30 with Kellogg Post Falls and Lakeland visiting.
