The EPA declined funding for a 23.1 million kilowatt solid waste incinerator proposed by Inland Empire Solid Waste Conservation Association to serve North Idaho and eastern Washington. Rich Bakes of Spokane said the plan was rejected for not fitting EPA environmental program goals and due to a similar gas turbine project in Palo Alto. He remained hopeful and planned to gather more information to seek reconsideration.
