Quaker Comfrey Deemed Poor Forage By Extension Expert
University of Idaho agronomist Howard Roylance says Quaker Comfrey or Symphtrem peregrinum is unsuitable as livestock forage. Low germination, costly establishment, watery silage, and the need to teach cattle and pigs to eat it limit its value. USDA and U.S. studies found yields poor relative to red clover and alfalfa, with no recommendation for use in the United States.
