Concrete Wall Replaces Collapsed Steel Wall Near Hope

Federal officials report completion of a concrete retaining wall at the west end of the Hope bypass near Hope. Investment earns $1 million for Idaho in local funds

State Treasurer Marjorie Ruth Moon announced that Idaho will begin earning interest Friday on a $32 million deposit of idle funds placed with 34 Idaho banks. The time certificates run to June 16, 1976, and are expected to produce about $1 million in interest for the state.

Lions Club Toys for Tots drive boosts total to 2035

The Sandpoint Lions Club raised 55 more dollars from five contributions and Idaho Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi added 25 for the Toys for Tots program. Other gifts included 10 from James and Betty Steinhouse, 10 from Pack River Thimble Sub, 5 from Robert and Dorothy Johnson, and 5 from Olen and Bera Meeker. The drive aims to reach 5000 to fund toys and food for Sandpoint families this Christmas. Kootenai Man Charged With Assault

Richard Inman 27 of Kootenai was arrested by Sandpoint City Police and charged with assault and battery after finding a man in a motel parking lot around 4 am and aiding him to a room. The injured man, Gary Merkle, was taken to Bonner General Hospital. Additional charges and investigations were ongoing.
