Pre School Music Classes Offered in Priest River

Post Office Lifts Ban on Christmas Mail

The United States Post Office lifted the embargo on Christmas packages beyond 300 miles after a one day rail strike. Postmaster General Winton Blount said slightly more than half of holiday parcels still moved by mail as regional directors began lifting restrictions on fourth class and bulk items with available transport.

Appointment in Lewiston to replace deceased county official

Gov. Don Samuelson said he will name a Republican to replace Nez Perce County Commissioner Elmer Heitman who died suddenly of a heart attack at 54. Heitman, a Democrat, was re-elected last month. A legal opinion has been sought on the appointment before Samuelson leaves office January 8.
