Man Shot In Accident Wound In Hope Home
A 78 year old Hope man, Mark Pettit, was treated for a gunshot wound at Bonner General Hospital over the weekend, according to Bonner County Sheriff's reports. Pettit was cleaning a pistol in his home when the weapon discharged, striking him in the left thigh.

Three Hurt In Mishaps Amid Snowy County Roads
Over the weekend at least three people were injured in traffic accidents as snowy conditions closed many county roadways. Fredrick W. Jameson 37 and his son Fred 13 were hurt when their vehicle left Garfield Bay Road and struck a culvert eight and a half miles from Sagle. Dayton Allen Lingle 37 of Rathdrum sustained slight injuries after a semi trailer jackknifed two miles north of Careywood on US 95. Steve Gance also injured when his vehicle went over the Garfield Bay Road bank.

Kidnaper Cherniwchan Captured After Escape Near Boise
James Arthur Cherniwchan 21, Idaho State Prison inmate, escaped Saturday and was arrested Sunday by Ada County Deputies while hitchhiking on U S 21 near Boise. He is charged with escape and awaiting arraignment. He previously kidnapped and beat Gene Palmer of Sandpoint, robbing him of 500 dollars and leaving him tied to a tree in Kootenai County. Authorities believed he fled via fog toward Canada.
