Car Fire Leads to Arson Charges for Three in Idaho County
Bonner County deputies arrested Edward L. Driscoll Terry M Poelstra and Denise Zipperer after a burned car found off Baldy Road on October 14 led to third degree arson charges. Zipperer owned the burned vehicle and allegedly hired the men to burn it for insurance. Driscoll faces three counts of first degree burglary tied to November burglaries at Chateau Supper Club Trails End nightclub and Arrow Tie Mill. Investigators also recovered cash and weapons as they linked the three burglaries to the arson case. Zipserer bond was reduced and she was released after posting 200. Driscoll remains jailed with bond set at 2500. Poelstra released on own recognizance with December 22 hearing.

Kindergarten enrollment grows in Bonner County
About 150 children have registered for the public kindergarten program for next February, far below a prior survey's 270 to 290 estimate but deemed solid for this time of year. Superintendent E Wayne Likens predicts two full time teachers for Sandpoint and half day teachers for other districts, with space challenges in Priest River and Idaho Hill.
