Wage-Price Freeze Rules Outline Phase II Increases
The Price Commission allows price increases only when justified by cost rises after Nov 14, 1971, with annual aggregate limits of 2.5 percent and productivity adjustments. Manufacturers and services may not exceed freeze levels unless costs justify increases, and pretax profit margins must not rise beyond base periods. Retail and wholesale prices follow initial markups tied to cost, with base period prices posted by Jan 1, 1972. Rent freezes continue with specific exemptions for certain property.

Potato Growers Urged to Organize Amid Redistricting Pressure
A USDA official urged potato growers to organize as reapportionment threatens rural-dominated districts. Deputy Undersecretary William Galbraith told the National Potato Council the party may drop to 24 or 25 congressmen with 20 percent rural constituencies. He blamed farm population decline and defended agri business critics. Delegates elected Scotty Falconer as president with Merle Anderson as vice president and Louis Wyocksi as secretary. Officers re-elected were Clarence Parr, David Clark Jr., and Seth Bradstreet. The council pressed for higher prices for processed potato products.
