Region 1 Republican Chairman Bows Out
Bud Benoit of Sandpoint announced he will not seek re election as Region 1 Republican Control Committee chairman after four years in the post. Washington UPI A spokesman for the U S Postal Service General E T Klassen said cost cutting from a 33 000 staff reduction eliminated the need for a 450 million rate increase and he does not intend to notify the Rate Commission of one. He noted labor costs dominate expenditures and calendar 1973 may proceed without an increase despite pending labor talks.
