Insurance Dept Violations Prompt Nepotism Probe

Legislative Auditor recommends the Idaho Department of Insurance bar employees from cashing personal checks from department receipts and notes possible nepotism violations with relatives employed for cleanup ahead of a Capitol move. The audit cites 1971 72 payments to private firms and legal fees. University of Idaho enrollment expected near 6999 this fall.

Colorado Gov signs oil shale impact study pact

Colorado Governor John A Love signed an environmental impact study agreement to explore commercial oil shale development. The $750,000 study will involve Meeker land tracts with CSU field work, Thorne Institute inventory, USGS groundwater work, and a state federal industry oversight.

Sierra Club criticizes WWP over Monroe Street dam plans

In Spokane an official from the Sierra Club says Washington Water Power Co. is premature in announcing plans to rebuild its Monroe Street dam. Gene Albert, president of the local Sierra Club, says there was no public hearing on the Federal Power Commission license. In Burley Idaho, Debbie Flowers, a Burley High School band member injured in June, has been released to recover at home.
