Hansen Campaign Debt Help Sought In Idaho Falls

Rep George Hansen raised about 15000 toward a 510000 campaign debt with a 25 per plate barbecue rally in Idaho Falls. Organizers reported 700 tickets sold and 605 attendees with beef and lamb donated by GOP supporters. The event netted 17000 for Hansen 15000 to candidate and 2000 to the party. Attendees included Art Linkletter Senator James McClure and Joe Barrett. Friday night Twin Falls rally drew about 200 people amid a separate Senate critique of SSI overpayments.

Pair Posing As County Appraisers Warned

County Assessor Dennis Benda warns of two reports of a long haired man and woman posing as County Assessor Office appraisers south of the river. He says no current staff are in that area and urges residents to verify identification with the county office before allowing entry.

District to Deny Benefits Request by Bonner County Teachers

Slash Burn Delays Possible for Lightning Creek Burns

District Ranger Jerry Stern said heavy weekend rain may push back a planned fall slash burn in the Lightning Creek drainage. About 515 acres of clearcut land across Lightning Creek and Rapid Lightning Creek are slated for prescribed burns, with mid-September targets for piles in several areas. Watts Boy in Intensive Care After Weekend Crash

Russell E Watts says his 19 year old son My Watts is doing well at Sacred Heart Hospital where he is being treated for injuries from a Saturday auto crash. The youth was thrown from the car during the wet pavement accident while attempting to pass another vehicle.
