Group Pushes Reorganization Of Idaho School Districts

The public schools Task Force on Legislative Planning will send a plan to the State Board of Education to form a commission for a tentative statewide district layout. Public hearings will precede final adoption as Byron Johnson reports to the board next Wednesday.

Faulty Meet Set For Aug. 30

Dr. E Wayne Likens Bonner County superintendent announces a General Faculty Meeting at Sandpoint Junior High on August 30 at 8 am with a coffee hour by the Association of University Women. The program includes opening remarks by Likens Vern Allen and Jack McHargue and school by school faculty sessions beginning at 10 15 am. No changes in attendance zones or dress codes for 1971 72, bus schedules unchanged. Administrations Office seeks substitute teachers and part time Teacher Aide positions.

Antonson faces second embezzlement charge in Sandpoint case

George A. Antonson 31 turned himself in to the Bonner County Sheriff's Office after a prior arrest on August 11. He posted a $300 bond and was released. The latest complaint accuses him of embezzling household furnishings from the Talbot estate, valued at $1,255, while serving as executor.

Powell and Police Chief Elliot cited after Sandpoint crash

A Sandpoint youth, William L. Powell, 19, received a citation for inattentive driving after his vehicle struck a police car driven by Sandpoint Police Chief George Elliot. Investigating Deputy Sheriff Bill Dorn’s report shows both Powell and Chief Elliot were cited for inattentive driving, though the Bee noted the citations had not yet been issued at publication.
