Williams Calls For Pay hike Halt
Auditor Joe R. Williams called for a halt to salary boosts for agency heads noting elected officials cannot receive raises during their terms and should seek legislature for pay changes. He argued lesser appointed officers should earn less than elected officials and cited state payrolls as the state fights financial strain. He proposed merging the Personnel Commission with the Department of Employment and questioned maintaining two state auditors.
