Early Morning House Fire Damages Sandpoint Home
An early a m fire at 717 North Sixth Avenue Sandpoint destroyed the rear of a wooden frame residence owned by Edward Scott. Fire Chief Art Chubb said the blaze started in a bedroom and spread to the kitchen and bathroom. The Scotts were away at the time. the structure was saved with smoke and water damage overall.

Sandpoint Scouts Return From World Scout Jamboree in Japan
Three Sandpoint senior scouts Fred Marienau Jim Parsons and Rick Sargent recount their ten day stay in Japan during the 3th World Scout Jamboree at Asig iri Heights. Fire Rips Mill In Spokane
A morning fire and explosion at the Centennial Mills starch plant on Spokane east side caused extensive damage but no injuries. The blast around 8:30 a.m. blew out seventh floor windows and firefighters quickly controlled the blaze, officials attributing the start to a spark in a bin or machine.
