Senator Stoicheff Accepts New Post on Libraries Committee

Senator James F Stoicheff has joined the Governor s Committee on Libraries. The panel will review 1969 conference results and plan the 1970 Governor s Conference on Libraries to be held in late November. Members from the region include Martha Buell Coeur d Alene Public Library trustee Tom Emerson Hayden Lake Osborne Heard and Jeff Eastmond of Worldwide Education and Research Institute Salt Lake City.

Idaho Public Lands appoints area supervisors in Pend Oreille and Priest Lake

The Idaho State Department of Public Lands announces new Area Supervisors Michael Reeb for Pend Oreille Lake area Sandpoint and Richard G Reid for Priest Lake with Coolin HQ. Don Stockton becomes Assistant Area Supervisor for Forest Management at Orofino. Reed and Reid bring forestry degrees and prior service in Idaho offices.

Two Car Collision in Sandpoint No Injuries Reported

A two vehicle crash occurred yesterday afternoon at 3 55 at Fourth and Oak in Sandpoint. Charles L Herrmann 25 of Dufort Road struck Augustue R Patton 50 of 605 Lakeview Blvd Sandpoint. Herrmann cited for failure to yield. damages unknown. no injuries.

Insurance agency sale announcement corrected

The Wednesday Daily Bee reported the sale of the Bill McBurney Insurance Agency to Sandpoint Realty Company prematurely. McBurney states the sale is not yet complete and a letter will be sent to clients after its consummation. The Bee apologizes for any confusion caused.

Mrs. Glynn Earns Master’s Degree from Gonzaga University

Mrs Helen Shaw Glenn of Route 1 Sandpoint has been awarded a Master’s Degree in education by Gonzaga University. A Spokane school counselor, she earned the degree with a major in counseling and guidance. She was among 25 students to receive master’s degrees in the summer session.

NIJC Expects Record Enrollment This Fall

North Idaho Junior College plans 43 courses for the evening extended day program with 22 academic and 21 vocational technical offerings. Registration opens Sept 8 and 9 10 with costs around 10 dollars per credit hour. Sandpoint extension is not offered this fall. Regular classes start Sept 15 as enrollment nears 1200 with programs in nursing law enforcement and vocational studies.

Hay-Grain Fire Destroys Hay Stack Near Burbank

In Walla Walla County Washington a fire destroyed about 50 tons of hay and alfalfa on a farm owned by T Richard Uhling just outside Burbank Crews from the Burbank Fire Department used a back hoe to break up the stack and save only the bases UPI reports arson has destroyed more than 1 million dollars worth of hay in the Columbia Basin since August 7 Uhling said the fire began about 15 minutes after he left home and he suspects nothing about arson but has no motive to burn him out

Ugly Canadian man Alex Chapelski dies at 38

Vancouver dispatch reports Alex Samuel Chapelski known as the ugliest man in Canada died August 11 near his 39th birthday. He suffered from Von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis causing hundreds of lumps. He rarely left home and faced daily rejection from vendors and employers. He feared his distorted reflection and never had a date.
