Bonner County Fair opens with horse show August 19
The 1971 Bonner County Fair kicks off Thursday August 19 with a horse show at 8:30 a.m. at the new outdoor arena on North Boyer, followed by 4-H judging and open class events through August 28. Exhibit entries run August 25 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and August 26 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with multiple livestock, dairy, and craft contests culminating in sales and awards on Saturday night.

Snow Creek Fire Nears Control in Montana
A fire reported at 6 p.m. Tuesday expanded to 15 acres about 20 miles north of Thompson Falls in the Trout Creek District. Fire lines around 3300 feet of the perimeter were completed with control expected by 10 a.m. Aerial support came from Coeur d Alene, Lolo and Kaniksu forests as 150 firefighters, 47 tankers, and 4200 gallons of retardant were used.
