Rural Electric Plan Filed for Mandatory Power Curtailment

Wm. T. Nordeen, general manager of Northern Lights, said the tri state rural electric group filed a plan of mandatory curtailment with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission and other parties in Idaho. The plan includes voluntary curtailment, which Nordeen says has not been successful this year, and urges Northern Lights members to cut electricity use immediately.

Three day Exhibit Opens and Historical Dinner Meeting

A three day photographic exhibit titled Quick Before Theyre Gone highlights Idaho architecture in Sandpoint with a fifth annual Bonner County Historical Society meeting. Don Samuelson will speak at a dinner in the Pastime dining room with entertainment by The Old Time Fiddlers.

Fire at Sandpoint dumping ground burns for weeks

Firefighters from Sandpoint responded Thursday morning to a blaze at a dumping ground west of the city along Pine Street. The 30 foot deep pile of wood shavings and millings has burned for hours, with Northside Volunteers and Public Lands crews assisting. A fire line was laid and authorities expect it may burn out over several weeks as the cause remains undetermined.

Alpine Motors manager Ron Shaffer reported two cars damaged when a vehicle drove onto the used car lot and struck the parked vehicles Wednesday night. The body shop estimated damage at 488 dollars.

Tractor theft reported at Rublee's Ranch in Carvewood

A tractor owned by Roy Menteer of Spokane, an Intermountain Harvester TD7E, is believed stolen from Rublee's Ranch over the past three weeks. William Shelly of Laclede reports a $200 chain saw taken from his bedroom during last weekend.

Four Men Arrested After High Speed Chase into Idaho

Four men driving a red van pursued by Montana and Saunders County authorities were stopped east of Clark Fork just inside Idaho. Walter I. Carson 72 Charles E. King 31 Larry L. Carlson 39 and Del J. Carlson were arrested and jailed in Bonner County awaiting extradition.

Junior Miss Title Sought at Sandpoint Pageant

Thirteen contestants vie for almost 400 dollars in scholarships and a shot at the state title at the Sandpoint Junior Miss pageant.
