Paulsen quits presidential bid over fairness doctrine
Comedian Pat Paulsen announced he will quit the Republican presidential race citing FCC equal time rules. He said he cannot work on television as a performer during his candidacy and will appeal the ruling to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal, possibly to the Supreme Court. He noted he informed Rhode Island officials he cannot run in the May 23 primary.

School superintendents allowed to begin driver education
School super intendents may start driver education programs for fiscal year 1973 before July 1 if the ending date is after July 1, 1972. Duane Kirk, director of driver and adult education, said new forms will simplify records and reporting. Each program must file a separate request with the department. the notice is not blanket approval.
