Fish and Game Commission to meet in Sandpoint Friday

Bonner County residents can meet Idaho Fish and Game Commission members at a Friday meeting in Sandpoint. The open public meeting at Sandpoint Community Hall starts 7 30 p m after a 6 p m buffet dinner for the commissioners and local sportsmen groups. Residents may comment on wildlife in north Idaho.

Four Year High School Proposals Sit With Board

Bonner County School Board heard two proposals for a four year high school from Southside PTO and Sandpoint High School faculty. Proposals would be studied with no funding decision yet. SHS faculty urged a single four year facility in Sandpoint, citing space and program gaps, while Southside supporters pressed keeping funds local and serving 300 bused students closer to home.

Land Tax Suit Questioned by Idaho County Taxpayer

Bonner County resident Charles Packard from Sagle challenges a $1,500 back tax claim on 29 acres bought in 1970. He says the land would not be taxed until properly surveyed and filed on tax rolls, citing a 1970 county assessor letter that back taxes would not be assessed.

Army Reduces Calley Sentence After My Lai Case

The Army lowers Lt. William L. Calley’s sentence from 20 to 10 years for My Lai killings, citing good behavior and rehab prospects. Prowler Fails in Barn Break-In near Elmira

Bonner County Board Awards SHS Parking Lot Contract

The Bonner County School Board awarded Frank Linscott the contract to excavate and fill land by Sandpoint High School for a new parking lot. Two bids were received and work starts once ground dries enough for heavy equipment.

McCann Challenges Idaho Jaycees at Sandpoint Banquet

Idaho Jaycee State President Bill McCann Jr. spoke at the Sandpoint Installation Banquet, promoting leadership development and noting Idaho's 56 Jaycee chapters will grow to 62 with Hayden Lake among new chartered groups. McCann, Lewiston attorney, is running for National Jaycees vice president and would be the first Idahoan in that post.
