Engineer Killed by Flywheel Belting in Chattanooga
John Ewald a 60 year old night engineer at the electric light company power house was caught in the fly wheel belting and hurled to death. He had worked half an hour after starting his shift and was presumed to have tangled with the gigantic wheel while his clothing was drawn into the belt. His brains were battered, his body torn in two, and his remains will be interred in the national cemetery as an ex Confederate soldier who leaves a wife and one daughter.

Train wreck at Collins halves Seaboard line in Savannah
Seaboard Air Line train No 74 bound for Savannah ran into an open switch at Collins yesterday morning causing the engine to overturn. Engineer Lee Meldrim and his fireman leaped free and escaped serious injury. A track was built around the wreck to restore traffic.
