Permanent organization formed at Washington County Fair meeting
The Washington County Fair Association held a meeting in the Superior Court room last Tuesday afternoon to form a permanent organization. Geo Gilmore was elected President with W J Henderson as Vice President J A Irwin Treasurer and C D Shelnutt Secretary. A committee was appointed to collect the remaining subscriptions and canvass stockholders across the county. Also reported, a fire at H H Holmes farm destroyed six horses and mules ten thousand pounds of hay six hundred bushels of corn and other forage prompting suspicions of incendiary cause and potential ties to earlier losses.

Jury Says Will Nix Must Hang in Sandersville Trial
Will Nix charged with the murder of Robert Jackson was found guilty in the Superior Court and sentenced to be hanged on May third by Judge Rawlings. Prosecutors urged no mercy while Nix offered no testimony and denied his guilt. The defense sought a delay due to counsel unavailability but the motion failed. R. L. Stephens led the jury and local citizens served as jurors.

Route 4 changes after March 16 alter pickup points. The carrier will enter by the Poor Farm and depart the Bullard place, returning along the new road via Judge Rawlings place. Patrons on the changed section must supply suitable boxes.

The Sandersville Theater will finish its engagement with a Saturday night show on March 9. A separate note says colored patrons will be admitted for the final part of the program. Col R W Irwin Buried In Warthen State
Col R W Irwin former Warthen citizen and Fort Gaines prominent figure died in Fort Gaines Georgia Wednesday. Burial occurred Thursday beside his wife in Warthen cemetery with large attendance. He was related to Governor Jared Irwin and John Lawson Irwin and left a son Geo Irwin and daughter Mrs Justice Beverly D Evans. Mrs Levada Wood Hartley died in Washington city Wednesday after weeks of illness. She was wife of J T Hartley and mother and friend to many here. She is survived by her husband a child and extended family.

Rev Joseph Parker Dies in Cairo After Illness
Reverend Joseph Parker died Wednesday in Cairo, Colquitt County, with his remains transported for interment. A former local preacher, he belonged to the South Georgia conference of the Methodist church and was noted for fine character. He married Minnie Beach, sister of townsman W R Beach, and the community mourns his loss as funeral services were held at the Methodist church.

Otis Poole Dies in County Jail Amid Murder Charge
Otis Poole died in the county jail last Tuesday from heart disease while recently charged with murder. He had hid from officers for six months and was arrested just last Monday by Sheriff Moye near Oconee. The case suggested doubt about guilt and likely acquittal if tried this term.

Bids Sought for Cemetery Wire Fence and Gates
On March 18 1907 the Mayor and Council will open bids to erect a wire fence around Brownwood Cemetery. Bidders must specify post type style height and weight of wire with one barbed wire six inches above top. Two double gates with locks and iron or wire gates to be included. Wrightsville and Tennille Train Wreck Injures Several
A southbound passenger train on the Wrightsville and Tennille railroad near Harrison last Wednesday left the track and turned over. The mail clerk sustained serious injuries and several employees and passengers were hurt. Remarkably, all aboard escaped serious harm.

County Treasurer S. J. Jordan is out again after a pneumonia illness and is welcomed by many friends. He was seriously ill with the attack and there were anxious inquiries about his condition. He is rapidly recovering and will soon be back to his usual vigor.

Mistrial Declared in Block Liquor Case
After jury failed to reach a verdict in the N. M. Block liquor sale case the court declared a mistrial. Block, part of A and N M Block of Macon, faced accusations the state said involved selling large quantities through an agent. Defense counsel included Wright Hyman and Jones of Macon.
