Delegates arrived in Sandersville for the 21st session of the Georgia Weekly Press Association. The host city welcomed editors with a grand reception at Judge Newman’s home and a banquet at the hotel Julia. Speakers included Senator A. S. Clay and Judge Beverly D. Evans as the party toured Tennille and Sandersville.

George Tucker Jr Narrow Escape From Timber Cart
George Tucker Jr the seven year old son of county commissioner G S Tucker was run over by a timber cart at the Tucker Bell and Mayo saw mill. He was riding on the tongue when a helper left him to adjust chains and the rear wheel passed over his abdomen. Doctors Cheatham and Rogers treated him at home and said there is no bone injury and he has a good chance of recovery. No one blamed for the accident.

A joint meeting of the county commissioners and a road committee met at the courthouse to study the county road situation and draft a satisfactory law. It is expected that a bill amending current law will be introduced at the upcoming legislative session.

Newman home with a Welcome sign formed from Georgia Weekly Press Association papers, signaling a memorable Sandersville gathering.
