Final registration for EK i a League Baseball in San Saba is tonight at 7 at the ball park. A week of practice follows with league competition slated to begin Friday June 14 under manager Leon Lane. Eight teams are forming with hopes for more, sponsors remain and police praise the program as a constructive youth outlet.

Two Abilene Men Charged In Piano Theft

Two Abilene men aged 18 and 31 were charged by complaint with stealing a piano from Shiloh Baptist Church. They waived preliminary examination, bond set at $1,000 each, and await grand jury action. Sheriff Barker noted San Saba involved in recent area thefts and burglaries.

Translator Files for FCC Permit in San Saba

Norman Phillips of the San Saba Translator System reported to the FCC in Washington that a building permit for the first TV channel to be retelevised was filed. Separate permits will be filed per station, with converters arriving for testing in Alpine and conversion work for local subscribers beginning in three weeks. Translator service on channel one should start within 10 days of the permit, free until channel two is offered, with a target completion date for channel two of July 1.

Revival To Open Sunday At Calvary Mission

Carlos Ramirez pastor of the Latin American Baptist Church in San Angelo will conduct a revival at Calvary Baptist Mission in San Saba starting Sunday June 9. Bids Sought for Nine Miles of US Highway 190 Project

The Texas State Highway Department seeks bids for a major US 190 improvement from east of San Saba to the Colorado River bridge. Contracts set for June 18, work to start about July 1. Project features include 1-foot climbing lanes, widening from 20 to 26 feet, 5-foot shoulders, and a one-course surface. Local labor expected. plans available in Brady and Austin.

Rainy start to June undermines San Saba moisture

San Saba records show rain on each of the first five days of June amid a persistent sloppy weather pattern dating from April. Reports from local correspondents note a 22.80 inch rainfall total since March 1, with a damaging hailstorm and crops affected in parts of the area. A Southwestern States Telephone Co survey tallies May rainfall and early June totals, marking San Saba's year-to-date at about 22 inches by noon June 5.

June 10 Qualification Deadline For Notaries

County clerk reports the secretary of state requires notaries to qualify between June 1 and June 10. Notaries must post a bond and meet statutory requirements with a floating fee. By Wednesday noon, few notaries had qualified in the county, with two or three expected to complete. Last year 14 notaries were qualified locally.
