Jaycees Set to Elect Directors at December Meeting
San Saba Junior Chamber of Commerce will elect seven directors tonight at 7:30 PM in the Jaycee building. Nominating committee members Red Williams Brantley Barker and J R Saunders assisted. Directors to fill four expiring terms and three more to raise total to twelve. Ballot lists many names including Worth Parker John Bogard George Nalls and Neal Gunter. The annual meeting is planned for June 16 17 18, with supper committee chaired by Sam Cobern.

Veterans Observe Ladies Night at San Saba event
San Saba veterans of foreign wars and American Legion join for a Ladies Night Friday at seven at the school lunch room with a turkey dinner and Christmas gift exchange for wives and sweethearts. The High School Choral Club will sing carols in the gym after the meal, with PTA hosting the Christmas party. About 140 attendees are expected.

John Newby Funeral Held
Funeral services for John Newby 78 retired Richland Springs farmer were held at the Christian Church in Richland Springs with Minister Roberson officiating. He died Friday morning after a ten year illness. A Mercer Illinois native, he lived in the county 62 years and was married in 1895 to Edna Brown. Survived by three sons Arch Dumwood and A Newby all of Richland Springs. three daughters Mrs M W Grant Camp Hood Mrs Floyd Lewis San Angelo and Mrs G Kinchler Goldthwaite. 27 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Burial in Richland Springs City Cemetery. Howell-Doran directed arrangements.

Hal Brazil, University of Texas student, is named cadet first lieutenant in the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps, announced by Major J. S. Tabb. A veteran of 18 months in the Ardennes Rhineland and central Europe during World War II, he was discharged as a staff sergeant and awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with cluster.

Mrs Mary Rankin Buried At Shaw Bend Cemetery
Graveside services were held at Shaw Bend Cemetery for Mrs Mary Jane Rankin 83 who died November 30 at the family home after about three months illness. Minister Jas A Fry of San Saba Church of Christ conducted rites. A Brenham native, she had lived in the county since 1919 with survivors including son Marshall Rankin and grandchildren Leslie Rankin Alfred Smith and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Coleman Burnham Billie Burnham Bill Taff Haynes Burnham Frank Langham and Henry Edmondson.

Re Burial Services For Williams Held In Texas
Re burial services for Robert Allen Williams who was killed October 17 1944 while serving with the 15th Air Force in Italy were held at Richland Springs Saturday afternoon at 2 30. The rites were conducted by Rev H E Crone of Temple and Rev W B Robinson and Rev J B Miller both of Richland Springs. Survivors include his mother Mrs Eunice Williams of Glen Rose and several aunts and uncles. His father a World War I veteran died in a veterans hospital at Dallas in 1945 and is also buried in Richland Springs. Pallbearers included Pvt Joe Frank Taylor of San Antonio Bryan Lewis Royce Templeton Ed Taylor Dean Adams and Pete Marley all of Richland Springs.
