School Bid Overrun Threatens San Marino High Renovation

Phase IV-B bids exceed the $5.1 million bond budget by 1.6 million, totaling 6.7 million for east-side renovations including Neher Auditorium and Webb Theater. The overshoot prompts a board vote to cut other renovation areas and may delay the project by years. An emergency electrical contract for Auten Electric is proposed to start summer work.

Public Invited to June 12th Campus Forum

The Community Center steering committee invites the public to join a June 12 study session in Valentine Elementary School multipurpose room. Eighteen prospective users will present for twenty minutes each, followed by public comment. The event runs 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with City councilmen Vince Filutze and Dr. Matthew Lin and school board members Jeanie Caldwell and Andy Barth on the committee conducting a needs analysis for future recreation program expansion.

Ride A Wild Tale at the Public Library Summer Reading

Public Library launches the Summer Reading Program from June 14 to July 31 with a Wild West theme Ride A Wild Tale. Activities include magic shows puppet performances and live animals.
