Oliver J. Schieber Dies After Brief Illness
Oliver J. Schieber, a 16 year resident of San Marino, died Friday at Huntington Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Services were held at Little Stone Church in Alhambra, with interment in San Gabriel. A civil engineer, he worked with Southern California Edison, Metropolitan Water District, and served in World War I Engineers Corps. Survived by Mildred Bulfinch Schieber, two children, his mother, sister, and brother.

Rites for 69 year old Arthur Beckwith were held Tuesday at Lamb funeral home Al lydena with the Masonic lodge and Rev William Currer presiding at St Simons Episcopal Church. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery Altadena. Beckwith came to Altadena with his parents in 1876 and later headed Beckwith Elevators Ltd of Los Angeles. He belonged to Westlake Masonic Lodge. Survivors include wife Louisa Beckwith two daughters Mrs Gordon Cram Mentone and Mrs Albert Stein Jr San Marino three grandchildren and two sisters Elizabeth Beckwith and Mrs Fred Sanders Altadena.

San Marino men named to statewide veterans committee
Three San Marino residents Allen B. Maxwell Howard A. Miller and James L. Patten were named to the veterans home and farm committee formed to campaign for Proposition No. 1 on the November ballot. The measure would authorize a 30 million dollar bond issue to buy homes and farms for California World War II veterans, overseen by the California Veterans Welfare Board which has already purchased 19 000 properties costing 89 million dollars over 23 years without taxpayer cost.

City Council to rule on storage firm petitions in July
San Marino City Council will meet on July 12 to consider petitions from Oneonta Transfer and Storage Company of South Pasadena and Bekins Van and Storage Company to build storage facilities for household goods on Huntington Drive between Kenilworth and Ridgeway.
