The D A R in San Marino sponsors a town wide display of the U S flag on Independence Day led by Mrs. Frederic H Vercoe. Patrons without a flag may obtain one by calling Mrs Vercoe or Mrs M E Rothenberger. USC Grants Degrees to Nine San Marino Graduates
At the 62nd annual commencement held in Exposition Park on June 23 USC awarded degrees to nine San Marino residents among about 500 graduates. Amelia Comics, Floragene Davis, Nancy Harris, Edgerton Miller, Dorothy Kummer, Julia Robinson, James Cannon and others earned BS in library science merchandising business administration education naval science and arts. Cannon is commissioned as a Navy Ensign and to active duty. he earlier attended Huntington School and South Pasadena San Marino High School, class of 1942.

Removal of overgrown plants along Huntington Drive
The mesembryanthemums and aloes along the Pacific Electric right of way in San Marino were removed this week per parks superintendent Armin Thurnber. The aloes were thick or unsatisfactory growers and the cleanup will enhance the orderly appearance San Marino aims to maintain on Huntington Drive.

San Marino's tenth annual summer playschool wraps its first week with boys and girls enrolled in crafts and sports. Girls fiber crafts and clay modeling lead attendance while boys’ shop features Boy Scout racks and lamp projects. D. Yoa kum, a grocery clerk at Shopping Bag Market, was found unconscious Tuesday morning behind the store. He was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital with severe facial cuts requiring stitches and later returned home to Alhambra. He did not recall how the accident happened.

San Marino Preparatory School held commencement on June 21 with about eighty relatives present.
