Education and Business Partners Highlighted by Trillingham

County superintendent Clinton C. Trillingham spoke to the San Marino Kiwanis on education and business as partners. He cited Los Angeles County enrollment of 625 000 and California’s one million children under six, noting 826 school plants in 133 districts with a 90 million dollar county program cost. He compared Russian and Russian people and urged peaceable ideas to accompany armament in wartime.

Start Grading New Parking Lot Next Week

Paul Barton the city streets superintendent says grading and paving of the lot east of City Hall will begin after an emergency job ends in a few days. Funds from small subscriptions will cover leveling grading and paving for 40 to 50 cars with entrance from Huntington drive and exit to Roanoke or Ridgeway road to ease Huntington drive congestion.

City Council weighs animal ordinance to curb city nuisances

County health authorities back ordinance 431 which would ban all animals within 500 feet of schools churches hospitals and homes except dogs and cats. If passed residents receive 60 days to remove animals and tidy properties before enforcement begins.

Rotary Club to hear Cal Tech professor address today

The Rotary Club will host an address by an assistant professor of physics and associate dean of students at the California Institute of Technology. The talk titled A Better Acquaintanceship with Cal Tech will be given at Pierre's restaurant during the noon meeting. Program chairman Arthur H. Skaer will introduce the speaker.

Sewer District Hearing Set For June 24

The City Council adjourned meeting on June 25 will decide about installing sewers in the southeast district. Residents protested April hearings over costs and petition signatures amid calls for detailed review before a second hearing.

Arcadia Man Reports Shingle Theft at Santa Anita Ave

Arcadia resident George Tkach said 37 bundles of shingles valued at 117 dollars were stolen from his home on Friday the 13th as he worked on Santa Anita Avenue. He reported the loss to authorities and noted the incident disrupted his construction project.

Graduation and retirement mark Huntington schools event

Junior High holds graduation at 2 PM in the school auditorium while Senior High conducts commencement at 4 30 PM on the athletic field at Diamond Avenue South Pasadena.
