Elene Roen, daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles B Roen of Lombardy Road, earned the annual San Marino Tribune Journalism Award, carrying a $200 prize. Local Student Chosen For European Exchange Program

William Roland, son of Mr and Mrs E F Roland of West Drive, selected by Circle K at Mesa College Colorado to participate in Kiwanis sponsored exchange. City Spends 364 For Park Cottage Termite Treatment

Termites cost the city about 364 for treatment of the Park Cottage in Lacy Park. City officials approved the expenditure at their last meeting as part of ongoing municipal maintenance and pest control responsibilities.

San Marino Council weighs health insurance cost rise

The San Marino City Council opened a careful study of the employee group health plan with a proposed 50 percent rate hike from the current carrier. City Manager Martin said costs could rise from about 6000 to 9000 dollars yearly, prompting consideration of competitive bidding and further questions for advisors before next meeting.

Dr. Clarence L. Nye Dies at Home in Los Angeles

Dr. Clarence L. Nye of East California Street, native of Los Angeles, died Friday June 12. A 1917 graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, he studied in Vienna and at leading U S medical schools. He was pathologist at Wilshire Hospital from 1929 to 1947 and belonged to several osteopathic associations. Survived by his widow Beatrice Nye, two daughters, six grandchildren, a brother Harold Nye, a sister Mrs. John Faddis, and a niece Miss Agnes McKay. Turner and Stevens Company were directors.
