City Declines Interest in Old Adobe Site in San Marino
City leaders at last night’s meeting rejected pursuing the Old Adobe property at Mission road and South El Molino. Reasons cited include high maintenance costs, traffic and noise in a residential area, staffing challenges, and potential disturbance to tourists. The site, now a California Historical Landmark, is administered by a local bank. Garden Club suggested a garden and archives space or historical society meeting place.

New Russian Language Course Teaches via TV Set
San Marinans may study Russian through a televised course starting Monday June 22. Superintendent Walter Dingus says the County Educational Television Committee arranged with a Whittier teacher to teach conversational Russian, broadcast Monday through Friday at 10:30 p.m. on Station KCOP. Study guides may be issued later.

Memorial Service Set for Victims of Palm Springs Crash

Gas Tax Cash Awarded City Hits 43415
The City of San Marino receives 43415.26 in state gasoline tax revenues for the fiscal year ending June 30 from California Public Works. Of this total 40415.26 funds street work and 3000 funds engineering. The distribution comes from five eighths of a cent per gallon state taxes on highways, apportioned by population.
