George Duarte has guided San Clemente High School in academics and athletics while balancing Army Reserve duties from 1985 to 2006. He served in CID, handled security tasks from a nuclear facility to international assignments, received coins for missions, and earned a pocket knife gift from Donald Rumsfeld. Two San Clemente middle school students Amanda Rooker and Chandler Horton traveled to College Park Maryland to compete in the National History Day Contest finals from June 9 to 13. Though neither won at nationals both gained experience meeting participants from across the country and around the world and plan to return next year in upper grades with new projects.

An Orange County AVID Senior Standout, with a 4.17 GPA, plans for UC Davis UC Irvine USC and NYU, will attend UC Davis. Nancy Rodriguez Kind, a 4.27 GPA graduate, earned Blue and Gold Scholarship and college acceptances. A top scholar with 4.17 GPA, tutored Spanish and math.
