City tests quieter railroad warning system Friday
San Clemente residents will see three prototypes tested Friday at Dire Court crossing to gauge a 2 mile beach corridor plan. The system would use 80 decibel crossing horns replacing the current 112 decibel train horn across seven crossings if regulators approve. The plan, backed by the city and OCTA, aims to cut railroad noise while allowing train operators to sound horns when needed.
