San Clemente Car Show preserves contract amid sponsor and space challenges
Downtown San Clemente officials will retain the car show contract for now and may renegotiate scheduling at renewal. The event faces sponsor recruitment and space limits, with limited parking between the car show and farmers market. The show aims to draw shoppers downtown and raise awareness of the area as a destination. Three awards will be presented this year, including Mayors and Marines choices and a Tony Carbonara Commemorative award, plus a vintage firetruck arranged by Councilman Hamm. Nonprofits like Courtney's Sandcastle, Casa Romantica, the Historical Society and the Family Assistance Ministry will staff free booths. A canned-food drive and raffle add to the day.

Teen Surfs for 730 Days Straight in Dana Point
Meg Roh, 14, logs 730th consecutive day of surfing at San Onofre State Beach with stepfather Sam Hann. The Dana Point resident aims to be a world champion and credits perseverance and patience after facing fever days and stormy weather.
Meg Roh Strives for Daily Surfing Streak and Championship
Meg Roh, age 14, follows a strict dawn routine to surf daily for two years, waking at 5 a.m. with her stepfather Sam Hann and mother Sue Hann and heading to San Onofre and other beaches aboard Sam’s 1971 VW bus. She rides at least five waves on about 10 boards, then returns for school as a straight-A student. Her goal is to compete for a high school team, attend college on a surf scholarship, and someday become a world champion, though she may skip frequent contests for balance and personal growth. The family supports her one-day-at-a-time approach, aiming for 1,000 consecutive surfing days while inspiring local surfers and even earning bumper stickers reading Meg would go.
