Velzy Surf Contest Honors Surfing Pioneer at Doheny
The Dale Velzy Surf Contest and Luau at Doheny State Beach honors pioneer Dale Velzy with family donations and a 9 foot 6 inch board raffle. About 100 competitors joined the day’s events including tandem surfing teams as fans recalled Velzy’s impact on Southern California surfing history.
