Groups Unite to Protect Aquifer Water Quality
A joint task force by AACOG and partners seeks a standard development policy for the Edwards Aquifer to safeguard water quality across the 6449 square mile region. The panel includes San Antonio city and water boards, Edwards Underground Water District, San Antonio River Authority, and county judges, with Comal County involvement on water usage and potential state taxation for external users. Funding approvals totaling over 236,000 from the Texas Criminal Justice Council and nearly 7 million in federal funds, plus 3.5 million for Health, Education and Welfare projects, were advanced, including Model Cities initiatives for San Antonio. A separate note from Waco reports a shooting incident at Chester Gordon Parks’ apartment, with investigation ongoing.
