Senate Touts Tax Revision Proposals At White House
A powerful Senate finance group pressed for a new business tax program unless President Roosevelt orders thorough revision of present levies. At a White House conference the group, led by Chairman Harrison, urged repeal of the undistributed profits tax and a flat 22 percent corporate levy, with continued small-firm relief and broader allowances for corporations. Treasury's plan favors repeal of the undistributed profits and capital stock taxes and a 22 percent levy. Harrison favors keeping the capital stock tax. Both plans were discussed as opinions differed on final action.
