Lively Household Tales and Social Notes Amid Local Gossip
In a chatty portrait, Katharine Lee is praised for beauty and poise as St Mary’s Hel hosts influence and social polish. References to Elizabeth Post of New York society, a cigarette ad on a steamer, and Mrs B Rogers traveling home underscore fashion, travel, and domestic exploits within a town’s social circle. Military family notes and a Chambray quip about women’s work round out the piece with vivid, era-tinged detail.
