Deny Charter for Texas Association Against Prohibition
Austin March 19. Assistant Attorney General Rice M Tilley ruled the secretary of state cannot sue to charter the Texas Association Against Prohibition. The San Antonio group applied last month but was denied because law bars charters for groups to influence votes on questions by qualified voters. Applicants were Lawrence H. Dales George W Stowe and J B Hooper of San Antonio. The purpose clause sought to obtain and disseminate information on state and federal prohibition laws and advocate repeal of the Dean law.
