Louis Plans to Face Jacobs Using Controlled Tactics
MIAMI March 3 Joe Louis aims to use exclusive contract tactics to claim the heavyweight title from Jacobs at the International Boxing Club. The champion, who took the crown from Braddock in 1937, reportedly signed a pact to fight only for Jacobs’ 20th Century Sporting Club and partners for two years, with sites planned in New York or Chicago. Louis’s camp says the deal strengthens his leverage and could keep Charles and Walcott tied to him, while London negotiations for a separate version continue. Louis heads to Dallas after Nassau exhibitions, projecting about 2000000 in gross from the tour ending March 18.
