Judge denies deal in guilty plea for Kincaid

District Judge John G. Benavides testified under oath that no deal guaranteeing probation in exchange for a guilty plea was made to John R. Kincaid. The hearing, first of its kind in Texas, examined whether lawyers struck an agreement affecting the 23-year-old killer’s sentence for the Jan 21 1971 shotgun slayings at a ranch near Fort Stockton.
