A San Antonio sergeant in England critiques J Frank Dobies newspaper article of May 7, arguing that British BBC news and programs are inferior and that American GI news is more candid. He contests Dobies praise of English openmindedness, cites BBC headlines and speed, and defends Texan and Southern views as misrepresented. The letter reflects wartime cross country attitudes and ends suggesting continuation on page 2.

Dewey Tilted for Southern Drawl in GOP Pitch
A humorous column by Arthur Baer mocks the Republican convention's appeal strategy. It notes nominating Governor Dewey with Warren as running mate and playfully questions regional accents while listing Army personnel and their relatives connected to Corpus Christi through a crowd of fragmented notes.

The article notes Khaki Faets Master Sgt James D Webb and others completing industrial safety engineering at an England Air Service command depot. It lists numerous promotions from lieutenant to captain and staff sergeant to sergeant across locations in Italy, the South Pacific, and the United States, naming families, addresses, and units for each service member.
