Allied Bombs Reduce Nazi Oil Supply
Allied air chiefs press a campaign to cripple Germany's war effort by destroying oil fields and refineries. Bombing targeted Romanian Ploiesti fields, German plants, and the Vienna refinery. Estimates show German oil production cut to about one third, with synthetic plants further reducing supply to around five million tons annually. Experts warn the situation is complex beyond the numbers.
