Federal Return New Tax Form Shown By Randolph Thrower
Randolph P. Thrower, new IRS commissioner, outlined an abbreviated income tax return for all U S taxpayers at the National Association of Tax Administrators meeting in San Antonio. He pitched new 140A style forms replacing 140 and HMDA and noted 40 percent of taxpayers would use a single sheet in 1970 while 73 million would add fewer than three schedules. He also discussed the federal state Cooperative Exchange Program, with 44 states and DC participating. Texas not included. A New York test yielded $3.5 million in additional revenue.
